The attic radiation shield/firestop is used to protect the combustible structure in the floor or ceiling adjacent to the chimney. It also acts as a separator. When EXCELDirect® passes through the attic radiation shield into an insulated space, a flashing collar (SC) must also be installed to prevent passage to the insulation. This option CANNOT be used as a support and is typically used when the ventilation system is closed.
